Gas Prices May Be Down, but Don’t Get Your Hopes Up Just Yet!

I almost fainted a few days ago when I drove by a gas station and saw the price listed at $2.99 for regular unleaded. I actually had to turn my car around and drive past it again just to make sure. Yup, the gas prices are lowering, but with oil at $67 a barrel, it should be lower. But wait a minute, if the oil is that cheap, then why are we still paying $2.99 a gallon? Where is the other $2 going?
Greedy Gas Stations

It would appear that many gas stations are trying to make Read the Rest…

The Police: There When You Need ‘Em!

When I’m being aggressively tailgated or witnessing other people getting cut off, I often wonder “Where are the police when you need them?” Granted, I was a police officer, so I know that there are often more pressing issues than traffic violations. However, it always seems that whenever I’m on the roadways, that’s when all of the aggressive drivers decide to come out; it’s almost as if they know that there won’t be any police to catch them.
It’s a sad fact that we should even have to rely on a police presence to get others to follow the Read the Rest…

Don’t Piss Off Cyclists!

When it comes to sharing the roadways, some people simply don’t get it.  I recently came across an article in which it described a man driving along with his family when he saw a cyclist disobeying the rules of the road.  Rather than just let it go, this guy followed the cyclist in his vehicle until he caught up with the cyclist.  At this point, he chided the cyclist for making other cyclists looking bad by blatantly disregarding street signs and other rules.
At first, the cyclist ignored the driver, but the driver insisted on “harassing” the cyclist to the point Read the Rest…

5 Things To Keep in Mind When Buying a Car

After the market rights itself again (which will hopefully be sooner than later), people will begin venturing out once more to purchase new vehicles. That being said, most of us dream about owning our own cars and driving down the city streets or highways with the windows rolled all the way down, wind blowing through our hair…ahem…you get the point. And while buying a car for the first time can be extremely exciting, it can also be a little daunting if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Many of us see the zillions of car commercials on the television Read the Rest…

Is Carpooling Really Practical?

When the gas prices shot up, people were worried because it meant that getting to work or just getting around in general was significantly more expensive.  So, as a result, we saw an increase in the number of people taking advantage of buses, trains and other forms of inexpensive transportation.  One of the big things people were doing as well was carpooling.  But how practical is carpooling?

I don’t profess to be a math major, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if you’re paying a ton of money in fueling up your Read the Rest…

Dump Trucks Set Record

File this one under weird and pointless news. I’ll just let you read a snippet of the AP’s article and let you digest it:
Nearly 300 tow trucks rumbled through New York City on Saturday in an attempt to smash the world record for the largest parade of its kind.
Organizers think they hit the mark, with 292 trucks participating. The procession included flatbeds, wreckers and 50-ton rotators.
I wonder what a bunch of auto transporters would have looked like? All I can think about is how bad traffic is in New York City, and how much worse this Read the Rest…

Bentley, Range Rover Becoming Unprofitable

It looks like Paris got the news about Bentley. What news you ask? Well since we do live in a rather global economy, it should come as no surprise that the failing American economy is hurting economies abroad. According to Sky News, UK car production is way down. Luxury car manufacturers are calling for less hours from employees, and in some cases even getting rid of shifts all together.
Half of the Bentley workforce are on a three-day week, while Range Rover night shifts have been suspended.
Jaguar has also reduced production because of falling demand in Read the Rest…

Criminals Break Into Cars During Cancer Fundraiser

Well this one raises the bar, or lowers it I suppose, in terms of thoughtless criminals.  While a record 18,000 showed up for the Evansville Indiana Race for the Cure, the cars of the participants cars were being broken into.  The event, which was held in the parking lot of the Eastland Mall was a massive success, but unfortunately things did not go as well away from the event.  The Courier Press is reporting that:
Burglars broke into at least eight cars parked near the site of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday.

A Little Media Bias in Detroit? Maybe Just a Little

Well, with all that is going on in the world what should the big topic be right now?  The economy?  The War in Iraq?  The fact that medicare and social security are going to cost us billions and leave generation Xers with nothing?  No, our media would rather focus on what John McCain is driving.  In what is perhaps the stupidest and most obviously one-sided news post of recent months, all the major news organizations are reporting that McCain, who states that he has been a loyal customer of American car companies, owns a Lexus, Honda, and a VW along Read the Rest…

Britney Spears…Driving to Court?

First off, I apologize for the size this photo…but I really wanted to leave it this large because, well…I think it is hilarious.
Oh, Brit-Brit, how your past is coming back to haunt you.  If you haven’t heard, Britney Spears is likely to be on her way to trial for the long past charge of driving without a valid California license, and for subsequently hitting a parked car and driving away.  Spears is slated to be in court on October 15th, the date being set by Judge T.K. Herman.  Spears lawyer is arguing that the mother of two, ex-pop singer, is Read the Rest…
