5 Tips to Avoid Accidents

When will people ever learn how to drive? It’s no wonder that more people are opting not to drive their vehicles across the country for road trips but are, instead choosing to go with an auto transport company. It seems that driving on the roadways has become increasingly dangerous, especially since the invention of the cell phone.
Recently, I’ve been trying out this new theory of mine. It involves simply driving the speed limit. I allow myself to go no more than five over the speed limit now, and it is absolutely incredible to see not only how much gas Read the Rest…

Tesla Seeks Aid to Build

The much spoken of Tesla car company is looking for federal aid, but hey, who isn’t these days, to start building their Model S all electric car.  According to the New York Times Tesla is looking for less then a billion dollars:
“Tesla is pinning its hopes on Washington and a $450 million government loan. The company expects to hear from the Energy Department this year.
“We are highly confident that Tesla will be selected, and it will occur this year,” said Elon Musk, the company’s chief executive, after displaying the car to customers, analysts and reporters in a gigantic hangar Read the Rest…

Ford Attempting to Sell Volvo

If you didn’t know it already, Ford Motor Company is currently attempting to sell the foreign auto maker Volvo.  Perhaps it might come as a surprise that Volvo is owned by Ford let alone that they are trying to sell them.  Ford is looking to shed some corporate weight and become a leaner, better functioning version of it’s current self, a big part of this plan seems to be unloading large corporate assets like Volvo.
Ford once owned famed auto maker Jaguar but also unloaded them, at a loss if I remember correctly, to India’s Tata motors.  Again this loss of Read the Rest…

Top 10 Driving Rookie Mistakes

DriversEd.com and Cars.com have recently put together a list of the top 10 mistakes made by inexperienced drivers.  The list might be useful if you are a new driver, or if you find yourself sitting next to a new driver as their teacher.  The list also might be helpful to review with the young drivers in your family to help them to understand what some of the common risks are when they hit the road.  The list is as follows:

Being distracted behind the wheel, which contributes to 80 percent of collisions involving new drivers, such as talking on cell phones, Read the Rest…

Surf the Web in your Car? “Why Not” Says Cadillac.

In this day in age it seems like it is important to be in touch and within reach of the web everywhere…and I do mean everywhere.  Cadillac will be introducing cars with built in wireless Internet according to http://reviews.cnet.com/:
“Cadillac has announced the availability of an in-car wireless Internet option on its CTS sport sedan beginning in April. The new option will be called Cadillac WiFi (sic) by Autonet and be dealer-installed. The device itself will have an MSRP of $499, and the service will cost $29 per month.”
What is the point?  I have no idea.  I suppose if the market Read the Rest…

Thousands Back to Buy a Car? Congress Might Go For It.

Here at National Transport we are involved in auto transport, so it goes without saying that the more cars that are bought the more that are shipped.  With that in mind we are left to ponder the tax incentive plan offered up by an Ohio congresswoman.  The plan would offer three to five thousand dollar rebates to people who trade in their gas guzzlers for green autos.  According to http://www.usatoday.com the congresswoman in question has some big dreams for her plan:
“This is a very comprehensive bill with multiple beneficial effects that I think will make it palatable to enough of Read the Rest…

TapouT Founder Killed in Car Crash

Charles “Mask” Lewis Jr. who is a founder of the TapouT clothing line died recently when his $300,000 Ferrari hit a telephone poll.  Lewis started TapouT clothing on a shoestring, selling clothes out of car trunks before making it big.  Lewis, who was a constant figure in MMA culture was likely racing a man in a white Porsche when the German auto swerved and hit Mask’s Ferrari causing him to lose control.  I say “likely racing” because Police have yet to make a final determination in the matter, Mercurynews.com is reporting the following:
A patrol officer saw the red 2004 Ferrari Modena and Read the Rest…

Trapster…Awesome Auto Technology!

Let me preface this article by saying that I was a police officer in a Capital City, and in that time I only ever wrote one speeding ticket.  In fact, many officers don’t write speeding tickets (unless, like in my case, the speeding was truly…stunningly excessive and dangerous), the reason being that it would be the picture of hypocrisy to charge someone with a crime that everyone commits.  That said, let me endorse trapster.com.
Trapster.com is a site that has a user created list of red light cameras as well as spots known to be frequented by police looking to trap speeders.  Read the Rest…

China’s Car Sales Up

I reported just the other day that India’s car sales have jumped in recent months, and I mentioned in the article (and I quote myself): “even foreign auto makers producing cars in India are likely doing so at a discount in labor prices thus enabling them to make sales at lower costs relative to outside competition.  The sad fact is that America will have a very difficult time selling cars in two huge markets, India and China, because our union labor rates make cheap cars an impossibility for the most part.”  Well, my prediction has come true, and you now know that Read the Rest…

US Car Sales Slump, India Picks Up Slack

Just as I reported recently when I wrote about AutoZone posting better then expected earnings, so it appears that there is another silver lining in the US car sales drop.  Unfortunately for us that silver lining is being experienced not here but abroad, India to be exact.  India has seen nearly a quarter rise in it’s car sales of late.  According to http://online.wsj.com/ seems that India is thriving in an otherwise down market:
“India’s local car sales posted their biggest percentage gain in two years in February because of an improvement in retail financing and of a lower sales base in the year-earlier period.
