Living in North Carolina but originally being from Long Island, New York, this means that I often travel by car whenever I want to visit my family.  Depending on the situation (for instance, if I’m going to a wedding or some other sort of special function), I’ll opt to fly instead because I know that I won’t be staying that long.  However, most other times I will simply make the drive up because I like the convenience of having my own personal vehicle and not having to borrow a car from a family member or worse: rent one!

Car Commercials: Clever or Annoying?

Now that the auto industry is suffering with the almost sure bankruptcy of GM, will we begin to see a decline in the amount of auto advertising on television?  Quite frankly, it seems that people in the auto industry would benefit more from marketing used cars or cars that are less expensive.  For instance, I’ve personally noticed a lot more Toyota and Honda commercials than anything else, but are these car commercials actually working to drive business to the auto industry?

Who Rules the Road: Cyclists or Cars?

As the summer once again approaches, you’ll probably see an increased number of people riding their bicycles to get around versus using their cars.  However, due to the slumped economy, the number of people who are now riding their bikes to work has gone up significantly in the past year.  This should be viewed as a great thing.  After all, people are saving hundreds of dollars in gasoline expenses while they get much needed exercise.  It’s a win-win, right?  Unfortunately, many motorists are annoyed at the fact that cyclists seem to be taking over “their” roadways.
