While trees may add to the overall aesthetic appeal of a roadway, there is some danger involved. Trees can also function to obstruct a driver’s view of the road and can often act as a barrier for collision.
Each year, over 3,000 fatalities involve a collision between cars and trees. Most of the time, these collisions are due to driver neglect or due to the fact that the driver is trying to avoid colliding with something else that is in the roadway. Back in September, a motorist had quite the shake up when he collided with a guardrail just off of an interstate in Montana.
According to the news story, the driver, 21-year-old Andy Dangerfield of Pullman, Washington, had left Washington earlier in the morning and was on his way to Idaho. Somewhere in the interim, Dangerfield became tired and fell asleep at the wheel of his Chevy Suburban. His vehicle drifted off of the roadway and collided head on with a guardrail. What happened next was nothing short of incredible.
