Top 10 List of Favorite Foreign Classic Cars

My personal favorite foreign car is the MGB. Something about its lines, its class, and most importantly, it’s charm, has always won me over. I was looking at Buy Classic Cars and found my favorite came in at #9 on their list of the Top 10 classic foreign cars.

The list contained the following cars:

  1. VW Beetle
  2. Triumph TR3
  3. Austin Mini
  4. Jaguar XKE
  5. MG TD
  6. Triumph TR6
  7. Mercedes 280SL
  8. Austin Healey 3000BJ8
  9. MG MGB
  10. Datsun 240Z

These websites, and similar websites devoted to specific autos are an amazing tool that allows classic car aficionados from around the country to exchange insights, stories, and their individual passion. Perhaps, the greatest attribute of these sites. Perhaps the greatest attribute of these sites is that they allow someone in Georgia to view the exact car they want from models all across the country, and when they find it to have it transported from New York, Texas or any number of places which might previously have been out of reach.

I was also surprised by how many of the cars listed were somewhat practical vehicles. Perhaps it is people buying for the nostalgia of a bygone era, but I had never thought that the VW Bug would top the list of popular foreign cars. I suppose there is something to be said for the fact that the VW and my favorite, the MGB, were both produced in massive quantities. It just goes to show that there are many people who are passionate about many makes and models of autos; and even if your classic car isn’t a rarity, it is still likely to be beloved by another.

  1. I’m also surprised to see the VW in the top slot, and I would have thought the MG would be closer to the top along with the Triumph TR3 and I didn’t know the Austin Mini was quite that popular. Just goes to show that I don’t know as much about cars as I thought.

  2. I personally would suggest the 69-73 Nova it is a cheap car to buy, maybe $1800 for the car and it comes normally with a 350 which is a decent engine to upgrade and if you blow the engine 350’s are a dime a dozen, it can also hold up to a 502 with some suspension work to hold the heavy beast. Also insurance is cheaper because it is a classic.
