Bentley, Range Rover Becoming Unprofitable

It looks like Paris got the news about Bentley. What news you ask? Well since we do live in a rather global economy, it should come as no surprise that the failing American economy is hurting economies abroad. According to Sky News, UK car production is way down. Luxury car manufacturers are calling for less hours from employees, and in some cases even getting rid of shifts all together.

Half of the Bentley workforce are on a three-day week, while Range Rover night shifts have been suspended.

Jaguar has also reduced production because of falling demand in the UK and the US.

It comes after new UK car registrations in August hit the lowest level for any August since 1966. (Source: Sky News)

A good deal of the slump, which is estimated to be a nearly 20% decline in sales from this time last year, is attributable to lack of exports to the U.S. as well as the rise in gas prices. American car companies are of course experiencing their own economic woes. If you recall GM, Ford, and Chrysler are looking to get a massive bailout loan from the federal government while they attempt to “retool” and produce cars that people actually want to buy.

This must be a sad day for the likes of P.Diddy and Paris Hilton. With Bentely slowing production, who will come to the fore and start to produce the car of the inexplicably, undeservedly wealthy morons in America? Only time will tell.
