Cars Frozen to Street in Detroit
Here’s a story that you can bet the insurance companies are taking some interest in. It appears that a leaky faucet at a nearby house has spilled out onto the street literally freezing cars to the road. According to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ car owners feel helpless and have no real recourse at the moment:
“NewsChannel5’s Detroit sister station, city crews are using a shovel and a pick to try to pry the vehicles frozen in place in the neighborhood of Whitaker and Green on Detroit’s southwest side. And the owners of the cars don’t know what to do.
Officials said a faucet from a house nearby has been running nonstop. Workers have been called, but neighbors believe the city considers this a low-priority job.”
It seems that the car owners are worried that if their cars are moved that parts of the car might not make it to the final destination. Of course, if that is the case, this will be one interesting looking street before long, covered in nothing but forsaken mufflers and transmissions as far as the eye can see.
As of the time of writing there has been no reported solution, that is to say that nothing apparently has been done yet. Whatever the case may be I am certain of one thing: Someone will end up getting sued. Most likely it will be the owner of the leaky faucet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the city gets a few subpoenas in the mail sometime soon.
