Auto transport companies offer several ways to pay. The company may require a down payment or a partial payment. Deposits may also be asked for from the company with the other part of the money being paid upon delivery. Some transport companies require full payment before they will transport the car. This may not sound like a very good deal to the consumer, but remember that the insurance will cover accidents, stolen vehicles and any car or truck that does not reach the destination agreed upon in the contract. Consumers are protected with the insurance, and the transport company is covered by the full amount of the payment.

Get the title in advance, if possible. If you need the sale proceeds to pay off your loan, this won’t always be an option. However, some lending institutions offer short-term cash loans for this type of purpose. You may be able to take out an unsecured cash loan to pay off the original auto loan. This makes it easier from the buyer’s perspective, since they won’t have to pay off Read the Rest...

Get the title in advance, if possible. If you need the sale proceeds to pay off your loan, this won’t always be an option. However, some lending institutions offer short-term cash loans for this type of purpose. You may be able to take out an unsecured cash loan to pay off the original auto loan. This makes it easier from the buyer’s perspective, since they won’t have to pay off your loan for you and wait for your bank to release the title.

Spell out your terms up front. Indicate what forms of payment you are willing to accept. It is probably not a good idea to accept personal checks, unless the buyer is willing to let you keep the vehicle until the funds clear the bank. Some buyers may offer to make payments in installments. If you agree to something like this, keep in mind that once you have signed over the title, there is little you can do to compel the buyer to pay.

Make a list of known issues with the vehicle. You might want to have a mechanic perform a thorough inspection of the vehicle before you list it for sale, along with the estimated costs. If you include known mechanical issues with the ad listings, you can increase trust with the buyer. Also, if a buyer contacts you about the vehicle, you will know that the defects are not a deal-breaker and that the sale is more likely to move forward. If you hide the defects until the buyer contacts you, you might end up wasting your time talking to people who won’t buy when they find out.

List the vehicle for sale on multiple online sites. If you use Craig’s List, you might consider listing it in multiple cities. For listings outside of your home town, get a car shipping quote from a reputable company and include that information in your ad. The right buyer might not have considered this option. Make sure to “anonymize” your e-mail address so that you don’t get spammed.

If you make it easy for the ideal buyer to understand what they are buying, you maximize your chances of getting a good price for your vehicle.

If you’re planning to make a long-haul move and you will be bringing multiple vehicles with you, you might need to ship one of the cars. If that’s the case, here are some precautions to take.
Tips for Cross Country Car Transport:

Pick a reputable car shipping company. If possible, get a referral from someone you know who has had a positive experience with an auto transport company. You may need to ask around a bit before you find someone.
Allow for a wide time window. Shipping cars over a long distance can sometimes take as long as two weeks. While some companies Read the Rest...

While some companies will offer guaranteed pickup dates, this increases the price tag considerably. Your best bet is to work out a short-term arrangement for managing without your vehicle. You might need to rent a car for a few days, or you may be able to carpool to work with a friend. But think about this aspect of the plan in advance. Leaving this to the last minute will create headaches that you don’t need.

Make sure that you have enough insurance. Your car shipping company should provide you with the necessary information about whether the coverage you purchase with your car shipping plan is sufficient or whether you will need to purchase extra insurance.

Inspect your vehicle thoroughly when it is delivered. Look over the outside body of your car, and also perform a thorough inspection of the underbody. If it appears that your car was damaged during shipping, you may be entitled to compensation for the damage, depending on the details of the agreement that you signed when you purchased the service.

Remove all items from your car prior to pickup. Most drivers will not accept your car if there are items inside it at the time of pickup, due to insurance reasons and legalities. Even aside from this factor, it’s simpler for everyone involved if you don’t have to worry about the possibility of your personal items getting stolen or damaged during the process of shipping your car.

Cross country car shipping can be a painless process if you take the necessary precautions.

You’ve decided to use online resources for finding a new car, but when you enter “new car” into the search engine, you are overwhelmed with the hits you receive- most of them not helpful at all.

Using online resources can be a lot of fun, but you can quickly get burned out if you use generic terms. Instead of something enjoyable, now you are feeling as though you are facing a monumental challenge.

Image

In order to keep that from happening, here are some questions you can load before starting your online search- feel free to change the wording if necessary so that you can get the results you want.

What type of vehicle do you need? This is important and will help you narrow down your search if you can include compact, sedan, SUV, minivan, or truck into the search.

Which cars have better fuel mileage? This may sound like a rather generic question, but loading it will most likely take you to car review sites. And, since these sites often review more than one model, you may be able to get all the help you need finding a new car in just one location.

Other websites, such as Edmunds, may have charts or tables showing side-by-side comparisons. This may be the only information you get from websites such as these, but chances are, they will have links that take you to other sites for more detailed information on the model you are interested in.

Where can I find information on hybrid cars? Again, this may sound like a question that is going to give you about a million hits, but again you may actually be directed to car review sites or sites that explain exactly what models are considered hybrid, how they operate, which models are available now and which ones will be introduced soon, and information on pricing and even tax rebates or incentives that you are eligible for if you purchase one of these.

What _________ (insert domestic, foreign, sports, or another defining word here if you want to narrow it down even more) models are available in the $_______ (insert your own figure here) price range? If you do use the suggestions included in this question to narrow your search, you’re probably going to really see how simple finding a new car can be.

As you can see from the last question, you can get more specific in the wording of the questions you load, and this can apply to any of the other questions listed as well as any you may think of. The more specific you get, the better results you will obtain, and you won’t have to wade through as many websites as you otherwise might have to.

When you find a website that really offers the help you need in finding a new car, go ahead and bookmark it. That way, you won’t have to keep going back to the search engine and trying to determine exactly which website it was among all of the others you clicked on that gave you the information you needed.

This can also save you a lot of time and aggravation.

As 2011 is already off to a big start, there is much speculation over whether or not car shipping rates will see major increases or remain somewhat steady as the year continues to progress. The answer doesn’t rely so much on the economy though- as much as it will depend on what car shipping company you choose to use.
Over the years, auto transport and car shipping has become increasingly popular, with more and more people choosing to ship their vehicles across the country rather than risk the drive by themselves. The answer doesn’t rely so much on the economy though- as much as it will depend on what car shipping company you choose to use.

Over the years, auto transport and car shipping has become increasingly popular, with more and more people choosing to ship their vehicles across the country rather than risk the drive by themselves. Additionally, due to the current economy, there are more people than ever who are concerned with preserving their vehicles over the long term; and this means not using their cars, trucks or SUVs unnecessarily or putting additional wear and tear on their vehicles.

Today’s auto industry is competitive as more and more auto transport companies pop up around the United States as well as the world. Due to the increased competition within the industry, there are more affordable car shipping rates than ever before, giving everyday people new and improved opportunities to take advantage of all that the car transport industry has to offer. However, as with most things, just because the car shipping rates look good, you still may want to do some additional research on your own.

Ask around to friends, family, colleagues and neighbors to find out what auto shipping companies they have used in the past as well as what their experiences were like. Look at the websites for these auto shipping companies and see if you can find out additional information such as how long the company has been in business, customer testimonials and other background information on the business. Once you’ve narrowed down your search and found a few auto transport companies, feel free to give each one a call. Customer service representatives should be able to tell you about the various car shipping rates and should also be attentive to your needs and concerns.
