Could You Turn it Down a Bit?

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like every time I get into my car and have to drive somewhere at night, people are shining their brights at me for no reason.  Recently, when discussing this issue with my boyfriend, we decided that the reason I felt this way may have something to do with the way my vehicle sits on the roadway.  For instance, when I used to own a smaller car (versus an SUV), it sat lower to the ground.  Therefore, I was constantly under the illusion that drivers were just driving around with their brights on. But now I own a Jeep; so what’s the excuse?

Driving with your brights on is only necessary if you are the lone car on the road and you want to illuminate your path.  The other instance where you would use your brights is if you are trying to alert another driver about something such as turning their lights on to begin with.  The one thing that I see a lot of in North Carolina, however, is that drivers will often drive behind someone else having forgotten to turn their brights off or simply not caring.

The next time you are behind a driver or in front, give them a little wave or some other sort of acknowledgement that will hopefully get them to turn their lights down a bit.
