Intellicast Interactive Traffic Reports for Your Car Travels
Wouldn’t it be great if you knew ahead of time where all of the traffic problems were, this way you could avoid them all? Well, life isn’t perfect, and traffic jams will happen. However, the folks over at Intellicast are trying to make things better for the rest of us by providing a site where you can actually type in the name of a city, zip code, Airport ID, state or country and find out what the traffic conditions are like. This is a free service, and I imagine that if you had a Blackberry or some other mobile device that had the Internet, you could probably even access this while you’re on the road (don’t forget to pull over to the side first!).
Since I’m going to be traveling to New York soon, I figured I would give this site a shot. Typically, on the way up to Long Island, NY from North Carolina, there are ALWAYS traffic jams in the Arlington, VA area as well as the Washington, D.C. area. Sure enough, when I typed in the words “Arlington, VA,” I was immediately presented with a map of the area as well as a “Traffic Incident Summary,” which detailed the major construction going on as well as what roadways were closed. Check it out for yourself (see picture below). I would highly recommend using this site if you find yourself traveling out of state or even down the street. It’s extremely helpful!
