Well the holidays are upon us and certainly one thing that might not be on your mind is automotive safety, but why not consider it.  I mean with all of those parking lots and icy roads these are dangerous times to be driving around.  Of course the danger doesn’t stop there: dangerous toys, domestic disputes, and the possibility of choking on a Christmas ham all loom large, but I digress, automotive safety is our concern today.

With safety in mind, the AP has reported the following list of safest new cars:

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety designated 72 vehicles as winners of their top safety pick award. The award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting motorists in front, side and rear crashes and have anti-rollover technology called Electronic Stability Control, or ESC.
