Proposed Fuel Economy Standards for 2011
It seems like wherever you go, someone always brings up the issue/crisis with increasing gas prices. It is an issue that just seems to never get old! That being said, as I filled my Jeep Liberty up with $67 worth of gas for the 2nd time within a week, I couldn’t help but ponder what the future held in store for fuel economy and gas prices. Do gas prices really need to be that high? Perhaps we should be getting charged almost four bucks a gallon. After all, it is polluting the environment.
Future Prices
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a proposal on the average fuel economy standards for 2011-2015 states that susbstantial increases in the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) would help to conserve energy. They went on to state:
Since the carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted from the tailpipes of new motor vehicles is the natural byproduct of the combustion fuel, the increased standard would also address climate change by by-product emission.
The results of this proposal showed that 97% of the total greenhouse are represented by bad emissions. So, what can people do about it? Start looking into hybrid vehicles. Drive less. Hang out with friends and make sure you are dieting and exercising the right way. There are many little things you can do to avoid road rage. Additionally, if you are going to drive, make sure that it is with a licensed instructor whether is be with your gradmother or your mom. They’ll thank you in the end.

[...] The proposed fuel economy standards for 2011 should be pretty interesting to see. The astronomical gas prices now, officially have everyone worried about the future of not only the environment but our pockets. How much more can people afford to spend. There are, after all, a lot of other problems to tend to such as the increasing cost of living, the increase in how expensive food is to buy as well as the housing market suffering from it’s own crisis. I know that I’m just about at my wits end with it all! Even if you really aren’t interested in the nature of all of these crises around us, you can’t help but know something about what is going on. So, let’s tackle one problem at a time beginning with the impending gas crisis. What do we do about it? It seems like more and more people are turning towards hybrid cars as the answer. This may just be the answer, but only time will tell. [...]
[...] The proposed fuel economy standards for the future are one of the major things that everyone seems to be worried about. What do we do about the crisis? The answer seems to lie somewhere in the technological realm. If we take more time out to research the various technological things, then we just might have a chance. But seriously, the future of our earth as well as our existence on it depends on how we choose to conserve or not conserve energy now. We need to make sure that we are being careful with how we are using energy. This comes down to things such as deciding what kind of a car you are going to purchase. For instance, if you are planning on purchasing a vehicle, choose one, instead, that gets really good gas mileage- not one that looks "cool" on television. It’ll save you a bunch of money in the long run and will be better for the environment. [...]
