Tesla Seeks Aid to Build

The much spoken of Tesla car company is looking for federal aid, but hey, who isn’t these days, to start building their Model S all electric car.  According to the New York Times Tesla is looking for less then a billion dollars:

“Tesla is pinning its hopes on Washington and a $450 million government loan. The company expects to hear from the Energy Department this year.

“We are highly confident that Tesla will be selected, and it will occur this year,” said Elon Musk, the company’s chief executive, after displaying the car to customers, analysts and reporters in a gigantic hangar set up to look like a lounge at SpaceX, Mr. Musk’s rocket factory. His other venture is to build a spacecraft. “

I say “why not?”  I mean we already gave GM billions, we are heading that direction anyway (the government owns the car companies, the parts makers, the banks, etc.) so why not just give them the $450 million?  On top of that, why not pluck some people out of college and assign them jobs at Tesla?  I say embrace the future of all government all the time, be ahead of the curve!  In all seriousness though, what ever happened to investors?  Why does everything come back to the government now?
