Volkswagen GTI is Top of the List
If your memory stretches back a few months you may remember cash for clunkers. If indeed you do remember that particular program you might also remember it’s effect: lots of American cars off the road, lots of foreign autos sold. Asian and European cars have long been the tyrannical of quality in the automotive industry and the latest pick for top automobile by Automobile Magazine seems to verify who sits at the top of the totem pole. The Volkswagen GTI has, again, been named top pick by the esteemed magazine.
The Volkswagen GTI is, in fact, the only car to win the top honor twice in the twenty years of Automobile Magazine’s history. According to bclocalnews.com, the GTI has just the right blend of power and convenience:
“First introduced in 1983, the GTI drew admiration for its combination of sporty performance and practicality.
The 2010 GTI features Volkswagen’s highly acclaimed 2.0-litre 16-valve DOHC turbo-charged four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower.”
The Volkswagen GTI has been awarded several honors recently, seemingly confirming it’s status as a great automotive buy. Of course Volkswagen has always been synonymous with high quality that is in the range of the average person. Since it’s inception as the “people’s car,” Volkswagen has always seemed to hold fast to the mantle of being a car people from all walks of life can enjoy.
