The Benefits of Vehicle Insurance
Before choosing a vehicle transport company, it is important to be fully aware and understand the insurance that protects your car during the shipping process.
At National Transport, LLC, we are a certified vehicle transport company. This means that all of our tractor/trailers that transport your vehicle carry a full liability and cargo policy that covers the vehicle during transit.
This insurance policy is required and is mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Without it, we cannot bring the customer service and reliability that you deserve from a reputed vehicle shipping company.
What is Covered by Vehicle Insurance?
We perform thorough inspections of your car both prior to and after the transport of it. To understand our process as a certified vehicle transport company and our ensuing coverage on your car, here is some helpful information to answer your questions.
When is a cargo insurance policy in effect?
- A cargo insurance policy is in effect during the transportation of your car. It encompasses damages such as scratches, dings, dents, and gouges. It also covers neglect in loading, unloading and the transportation of the car by the driver. Any resulting damage would be addressed to the cargo policy in effect by the vehicle transport company.
What do I need to do before my vehicle is picked up for transport?
- Prior to shipping your car, we will provide detailed instructions on how to prepare your vehicle for the trip. The vehicle transport company's vehicle insurance does not cover personal items left in the car such as computers, clothes, or an iPod so please take some time and clean out your car.
What type of inspections do we perform?
- Your vehicle will be inspected by the driver for any pre-existing damage before loading it for transport. If there are pre-existing conditions, please include a list for our company and any photos that may be helpful.
This same inspection process will be performed by the driver when the vehicle is delivered to its final destination. A condition report (bill of lading) will identify anything that may have occurred to the car during shipping. If damage occurs, the driver will do his best to either remedy the situation or reimburse you for any repairs that may be needed.
